Matting By Design began in 1986 and is now the nation's largest manufacturer of custom and designer commercial floor matting products. When Matting By Design first began, our specialty was creating loose-lay custom-designed products for residential and small retail locations. Because of our industry insight, exclusive technology, and high-quality raw materials, we were able to create high-performance products with inlaid designs that were unlimited in size and shape. Each finished product was unique to the customer, and it was that uniqueness combined with quality and performance that began filling a product void in an untapped market that continues to expand. Today, Matting By Design manufactures products for the nation's largest retailers and property management firms, along with countless other locations like hospitals, churches, and universities.
 Until Matting By Design, floor matting was limited to standard sizes, basic colors, and backing types that either wouldn't stay in place and harbored mold and mildew, or had to be glued to the floor. For large areas, it wasn't uncommon for multiples of mats to be duct taped together in order to get adequate coverage. At Matting By Design we feel these types of applications are boring, unattractive, and non-functional, especially for retailers and building owners trying to project an upscale image at their large entrances.
 Our approach to floor matting in 1986 was, and still is today, completely different than any other floor matting manufacturer. We believe matting should be unique, attractive, and functional because it's NOT just a floor mat...it's a statement.
